Free Avery Label Generator
Paste addresses or import a spreadsheet, choose your Avery sheet, and download labels lined up to print.
What is an Avery Label Generator?
This label generator prints addresses, return labels, shipping labels and name badges on Avery-compatible label sheets, lined up with each label’s published position. Paste addresses or import a spreadsheet, choose the sheet, and download a PDF that prints straight onto the labels.
Each label’s text is sized to fit, from 11 points down to 6, with long lines wrapped. You can start partway through a sheet to use up leftover labels, repeat each label to fill a sheet, centre or left-align the text, and print outlines on plain paper to test the alignment first. The check flags any label that won’t fit.

How to Use the Avery Label Generator
Choose your sheet, then paste addresses with a blank line between each, or import a CSV from a spreadsheet or contacts export. The sheets, the label list and the check all update as you type, so you can see where every label will land before you print a real sheet.
Choose the Sheet
Match the product number on the label pack, such as 5160.
Add the Addresses
Paste them with blank lines between, or import a CSV.
Test on Plain Paper
Print with outlines on and hold it against a label sheet.
Print the Labels
Turn outlines off, load the labels and print at actual size.
Label Specs, Placed
Each row is a label spec of the kind people print for mailings, parcels and events, from holiday card addresses to a label that won’t fit. Each answer is this tool’s check or its label-by-label list showing the sheet, row and column of each label.

Importing Addresses From a CSV
Most address books, mailing lists and spreadsheets can save a CSV file. The importer reads the header row to find who each label is for and where it goes, then builds one label per row in the usual postal order, name first and city last.
Name Columns
Name, Full Name or Recipient becomes the first line of the label.
First and Last Name
When there’s no single name column, First Name and Last Name are joined.
Street Columns
Street, Address, Address 1 and 2 or Address Line 1 and 2 each add a line, in column order.
City, State and Zip
City, State or Province and Zip or Postcode share the last line, as on an envelope.
No Header Row
Without recognised headers, every filled cell in a row becomes its own line.
Label Settings
Settings sit at the top of the box as a name, a colon and a value, and the menus write the same lines for you. These are the options beyond the sheet itself, each solving a common printing problem.
start
The first position to print on, counting across then down, so used labels are skipped.
copies
How many times to repeat each label, such as copies: 80 for a sheet of return labels.
split
blank separates labels by blank lines; line makes every line its own label.
align
left for addresses, center for name badges and jar labels.
outline
on prints a box around each label, for test prints and plain paper.
Lining Up the Print
Labels only work if the text lands inside each one. A careful first print saves a sheet of labels, and these habits help most printers line up first time without fiddling with margins.
Actual Size
Print at 100% or actual size; fit to page moves every label.
Test on Paper
Print one page with outlines on plain paper and hold it against a sheet to the light.
Paper Type
Set the printer’s paper type to labels so it feeds them slowly.
Laser or Inkjet
Use labels made for your printer; 5160 is laser, 8160 is inkjet.
Feed Direction
Check which way up the printer takes sheets before loading labels.
When to Use a Label Generator
Whenever more than a few envelopes, parcels or jars need labels, and writing them by hand would take longer than printing a sheet.
Holiday Cards
Print a season’s addresses from a contacts export.
Small Business Shipping
Print shipping labels for parcels and returns.
Return Address Labels
Fill a sheet of 5167 labels with your own address.
Events
Print name badges for a meeting or workshop.
Home Organisation
Label jars, boxes and folders in matching text.
Label Printing Pitfalls
Mistakes that waste a sheet of labels, most of which a test print on plain paper catches first.
Wrong Template
Check the product number on the pack; similar sheets have different margins.
Scaling
Any scaling in the print dialog shifts text off the labels.
Too Much Text
Long addresses shrink to fit; past 6 points they’re left blank and flagged.
Reusing Sheets
Set start to the first unused label, or the printer reprints used positions.
Blank Lines Inside an Address
A blank line splits one address into two labels.
Non-Latin Scripts
The PDF’s built-in font can’t draw Greek, Cyrillic or Asian addresses.
