What is a Hinge Comment Generator?

The Hinge Comment Generator writes the comment you send with a like on Hinge. You paste one of their prompt answers or a photo caption, pick a tone, and get short comments that react to a specific detail and give them a reason to match.

On Hinge you like a single prompt or photo rather than a whole profile, and you can attach a comment to that like. A comment that answers their prompt shows you read it. This tool writes those comments, and it is different from the Hinge Prompt Answer Generator, which writes the answers on your own profile.

Key Features

Comments on One Prompt at a Time

Hinge likes target one prompt or photo, so the tool works the same way. Paste the single answer you want to like and the comment stays on it.

Optional Note About You

Add a short line about yourself, such as 'bad at texting, good at plans', and the comment can work it in, so the match learns something about you too.

Five Comment Styles

Specific, playful, warm, witty or curious. Curious asks about their answer, while witty plays along with a joke prompt.

Short Enough for a Like

Comments stay to one or two short sentences. A like comment only needs to start the chat, so the match can answer in a line.

Perfect for everyone

  • Hinge users who usually send likes without comments
  • People whose likes rarely turn into matches
  • Daters who find prompts hard to answer
  • Anyone switching to Hinge from swipe apps

How to Use the Hinge Comment Generator

Four steps from their prompt to a like with a comment.

1

Paste One Prompt or Caption

Copy the prompt and their answer, such as 'My simple pleasures: the first sip of coffee before anyone is awake'. For a photo, paste its caption. Use one at a time.

2

Add a Note About You

Optionally add a short line about yourself that relates, such as a hobby or a habit. The tool can connect it to their answer, which gives them something to ask you back.

3

Pick a Style

Choose specific, playful, warm, witty or curious. If you want them to answer a question, choose curious or specific; playful and witty often end with a joke instead.

4

Like and Comment in Hinge

Open their profile in Hinge, tap the heart on that prompt, paste the comment and send the like yourself. Nothing is sent from this page.

Prompt types

Hinge prompts and how to comment on them

Different Hinge prompts call for different comments. These are common ones and a comment shape that tends to start a conversation.

01 / MY

'My simple pleasures'

They named something small and specific. Ask about the detail, which shows you share or respect the pleasure.

“My simple pleasures: the first sip of coffee before anyone else is awake”

02 / I

'I go crazy for'

A passion is easy to talk about. Ask for their best story about it, not a yes or no.

“I go crazy for: a really good second-hand bookshop”

03 / TOGETHER

'Together, we could'

They have proposed a date idea. Accept it with a twist so the comment doubles as a plan.

“Together, we could: find the best dumplings in the city and rank them”

04 / A

'A shower thought I recently had'

A silly question is begging for a silly answer. Play along with the logic rather than explaining it.

“A shower thought: are clouds just sky soup?”

05 / IM

'I'm looking for'

They have shared what they want. Respond honestly and lightly, without promising too much in a like.

“I'm looking for: someone who texts back and means it”

06 / PHOTO

Photo caption

A caption gives you a story behind the picture. Comment on the story, not their appearance in it.

“Caption: me pretending I know how to surf”

07 / TWO

'Two truths and a lie'

A game prompt invites a guess. Pick the one you think is false and explain why, since a confident guess starts a debate.

“Two truths and a lie: I've been to 30 countries, I can't swim, I've met a Beatle”

08 / THE

'The way to win me over is'

They have told you how to win them over. Show you can do it, or offer your best attempt.

“The way to win me over is: good pasta and bad puns”

09 / DATING

'Dating me is like'

A metaphor about themselves. Extend the metaphor with one more step and ask how it ends.

“Dating me is like: a podcast with too many ad breaks”

Who Uses the Hinge Comment Generator?

Hinge comments matter most when you are trying to stand out in someone's likes.

Turning Likes Into Matches

If your likes rarely become matches, adding a comment gives the other person a reason to reply. The tool makes that comment specific to their answer.

Commenting on Funny Prompts

A joke prompt deserves a joke back. The witty and playful styles answer their bit in kind, rather than treating it as a serious question.

Showing What You Have in Common

Add a note about your matching hobby and the comment connects it to their answer, which gives the match an easy question to ask you.

Commenting on a Photo Caption

When a caption tells a story, comment on the story itself. Your like is then about what happened in the photo.

Sending Likes Between Meetings

Hinge likes take a minute when you have a comment ready. Paste the prompt, pick one of three comments, and move on.

Learning Hinge After Tinder

Hinge rewards comments more than swipe apps do. A few generated examples show what a like comment looks like on this app.

Comment by hand

How to write a Hinge comment that gets a match

Every comment the generator writes follows these four rules. Keep them in mind when you comment without the tool.

P01

Answer the prompt, not the profile

Your like is attached to one prompt, so the comment should be about that answer. A general 'cute profile' ignores what they wrote.

Prompt: dumplings → comment on dumplings

P02

Add a little of you

Mention one related detail about yourself. It gives them a reason to reply and something to ask about.

'I already have a top three'

P03

Leave a door open

A question or a playful challenge invites them to respond. A pure compliment can be read, appreciated and left.

'Prepare to defend yours'

P04

Keep it one breath long

Like comments are glanced at in a list. If it takes more than one breath to read aloud, cut it down.

One or two sentences

Before you send the like

Three quick checks

  1. 1

    Is it about their words?

Make sure the comment mentions something from the prompt or caption. If it would fit any profile, add the detail.

  2. 2

Can they reply in one line?

If your question needs a paragraph to answer, simplify it. Easy questions turn into matches faster.

  3. 3

Would you say it to them in person?

Read it out loud. If it would feel awkward face to face, soften the wording before you send the like.

Hinge's own Convo Starters feature suggests topics to talk about. This tool writes a full comment, and you still choose what to send.

Tips for Best Results

Tips from running the generator on six real-style prompts and captions.

Tip 01

Choose Curious for a Question

Only two of our six test comments ended with a question, and both came from specific or curious. Playful and witty tended to finish with a joke.

Tip 02

Use the Note to Steer

In our test, the note 'bad at texting but good at plans' turned the comment into an offer to make plans. Notes change the angle more than tone does.

Tip 03

Paste the Prompt Title Too

Include the prompt text such as 'My simple pleasures' as well as their answer. The prompt tells the tool what kind of answer they gave.

Tip 04

Trim the Pun if It Is Too Much

Witty comments can stack a pun on a pun, like our surf example. Cut the second half if you want it to sound more relaxed.

Tip 05

One Prompt Per Run

Paste one prompt at a time rather than their whole profile. Hinge likes attach to one prompt, so the comment should too.

Tip 06

Comment on Prompts Over Photos

Prompts carry more to talk about than most photos. Use a photo caption only when it tells a real story.
